Like Tags, Organizations are a great way to group together stakeholders. In this case, instead of grouping users by like qualities – tagging them with 2020Board or by issue interest – we’re grouping them together based on affiliation such as where they work or an association they belong to.
More than just grouping stakeholders together, our reporting means that you can not only print out a list of all stakeholders assigned to an organization, but you can also retrieve in-depth reports, charts, and graphs related to an organization’s collective activity. You can also utilize tags on organizations to group like entities.
Creating Organizations
Adding organizations to your instance is easy. Here are a few of that ways you can get up and running quickly:
From the Stakeholder Profile
In the create/edit screen of each stakeholder profile, you’ll see fields for Title and Organization. Begin typing in the Organization lookup field to assign a stakeholder to an existing organization, or – if the appropriate selection does not already exist – you’ll be prompted to Add New Organization.
Simply give the Organization a name, and save it. The new organization has been created in the system, and the specific stakeholder assigned to it.
To remove an organization from a stakeholder profile, click Set Organization to Blank.
From the Organizations Dashboard
At the top of the Organizations Dashboard, you’ll see the option to Add Organization. Enter the information for the organization, and click to save. Please note that creating an organization does NOT automatically assign any stakeholders to the group.
Adding Stakeholders
Individual Stakeholders
In the create/edit screen of each stakeholder profile, you’ll see fields for Title and Organization. Begin typing in the Organization lookup field to assign a stakeholder to an existing organization.
To remove an organization from a stakeholder profile, click Set Organization to Blank.
Individuals Taking Action
Also available is a simple organization widget. Easily added to any of your forms, the new widget allows advocates to specify an organization as they complete the form, or, if an org isn’t found, the create a new one of their own.
Searching Organizations
In the Quick Search
Like searching for stakeholders, tags, legislators, and more, simply type the name of an organization into the Quick Search bar, and you’ll see that Org is a result type that the Quick Search returns.
In the Advanced Search
Need help with Advanced Search? See here: Creating a Saved Search
On the search criteria screen from the advanced search, you’ll see a a section for Organizations. You can search for stakeholders from a specific organization(s), or by Organization tag, city, state, and/or congressional district.
Please note that the advanced search will pull STAKEHOLDERS associated with the organization criteria you’ve entered, and not the organizations themselves, into the search results.
