As you’ve probably heard from us before, Advocacy is so much more than just letters, phone calls & tweets to decisionmakers, it’s about the people behind those actions. The Share Your Story action type is a great way to go beyond the usual advocacy actions and engage your stakeholders to collect stories and background stories to support your effort.
As you create the action and starting with the “Let’s Dive Into the Basics” screen, be sure to set a time frame over which your form will be live, and add any tags that you’d like assigned to stakeholders taking this action in the appropriate field.
The “A Few Additional Details” screen will confirm the form fields that will appear (to create/edit fields, see Creating/Editing Custom Fields and Creating/Editing Custom Forms). Please note: Share Your Story actions will automatically display/include a text box for the story as part of form, once it is published/user-facing. There is no need to edit the Share Your Story form to include a text box.
You can also change the text of the submit button and assign a point value to this action on the “Additional Details” screen.
Once these settings are confirmed, you’re ready to publish this action and begin collecting stories that could be the difference with a decision maker between a vote with you or a vote against you.
